check this out:
Code: |
root@usal burzmali $ emerge -up world | grep ' U ' | wc -l
57
|
and then:
Code: |
root@usal burzmali # emerge -p `qpkg -I --nocolor` | grep ' U ' | wc -l
87
|
that is 20 extra packages that don't show up with regular emerge -up world. i though this got fixed already awhile ago? i am using latest portage 2.0.44. the reason for the high number of updates is that i enabled ~x86 in /etc/make.conf, and also have some things unmasked in /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask. any ideas? _________________ burzmali

The world profile does not store the dependencies only the packages you emerge. See this thread for more info. You may also want to check out The Portage Manual _________________ Robert |

For a historical note, what TuxFriend called "dependency merging" in that thread indeed came to pass in Portage 2.0.37, and --deep was the default in that version, if you come across threads talking about that. I think as early as 2.0.38, --selective was restored as the default. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
