here's how I did it (dunno if it's the right way or not)

mkdir /usr/portage/sys-kernel/love-sources/
cd /usr/portage/sys-kernel/love-sources/
download the ebuild oneofone posted in his thread, (wget http://blablabla)
ebuild <name of ebuild> digest

emerge love-sources

that did the trick for me...

good luck

You can usually find the latest version by browsing this kernel thread and just looking for the first topic with "love sources" in the title...

it fetches the 2.6.6 kernel, and then applys several patches to it, so that eventually you get a 2.6.7-rc3 kernel

keep in mind that this is not the final release, but the 3rd releace candidate (I think)

Ok ive got it so far when i emerge love-sources this is what i get now

Code:

bzip2: Compressed file ends unexpectedly;
perhaps it is corrupted?  *Possible* reason follows.
bzip2: Success

It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted.
You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files.

You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover
data from undamaged sections of corrupted files.

It seems love-2.6.7 is causing problems. The patch is on OneofOne's site as 2.6.7.b0rked. I have no idea what nature the b0rking takes, but if you want to install it, then you're a braver man than I, Gunga Din

Considerably

One of the love-sources devs was quoted as saying "If the -mm kernels are bleeding edge, love-source are open heart surgery"

But then they have that whole ROCK LIKE NINJA thing going on... :)

It seems perfectly sensible to me that the final release of the 2.6.7 vanilla kernel should happen before that of the love-sources, since the love-sources are a patched version of the 2.6.7 kernel (actually, a patched version of mm sources I think... which is itself Andrew Morton's testing patchset)

(^^I'm pretty sure that all of that's right, but it is 4.45am here)

The love sources out perform the other patchsets I've used (gentoo-dev, ck and aa), it's the only way I can do multiple emerges and rip dvds at the same time and still not have to worry about mouse movement not being smooth. It's also the only way I can play windows games on this pathetic excuse for a laptop. 2.6.6-love4 seems popular, I'm using 2.6.7-rc1-love1 though

Because the last love source was based on 2.6.6-rc3. If you want a 2.6.7 kernel patch by all means go write one
