Hello to all,
I would like to collect some advices which jdk/jre to install.
Currently i will likely go with the ibm, what about the others ?
Any experiencee why this one or not ect.
Suggestions are welcome

The IBM jre wouldn't install for me, so I used the blackdown version. |

If you are going to be using a lot of new Java programs, then it's best to go for the Sun RE (you wont need any JDK unless you plan on actually coding Java yourself).
The reason is, at this time Sun wont allow other flavours of Java for the version 1.4 (or maybe just open source ones, I forget the exact details), which includes a lot of new features for developers.
The only problem with Sun's copy, is it's binary only. So if you really want a source code version, Blackdown would be best, which is version 1.3. But if you want to be able to run the latest applications then Sun's would be more appropriate. |
