Is there some sort of auto-align feature in KDE? Right now I'm using sort icons by type in order to line them up properly, but it's kinda funky cuz it lined up my icons vertically, and then when I moved an icon and chose to sort by type it shifted all of them over and I couldn't get it back to its original position. |

If you want to place the icons yourself (i.e. the trash icon in the top left corner) you should turn sorting off... put them (about) where you want them, right click on the desktop (I think) and 'align icons' or some such...
Sorting will always rearrange the icons by placing them vertically on the left. |
