|

Hello!
I just emerged KDE using "emerge kde-base/kde", including QT, XFree86 and so on.
And now, I've got the following problem starting KDE:
For getting into KDE, I enter "startx", and then I enter "kdeinit".
But then, it says the following:
Code: | bash-2.05a# kdeinit
DCOPServer up and running.
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". |
After that, nothing happens.
Can anybody help me?
Fstorm
(By the way, I've read that KDE should be started using "kdm", but this doesn't seem to exist in the /usr/kde/3/bin folder...) |

I'm assuming that you have a nvidia graphics card. Did you update the nvidia_kernel? When I updated mine to the rc1, I got some similar errors. |

"Load glx" is already uncommented; it still doesn't work
I don't have a nVidia card, it's a SiS 6236 card. |

I'm stupid.
Correction:
Quote: | "Load glx" is now uncommented; and it works |
I didn't read carefully. I read "Comment out the line..." instead of "uncomment".
Thank you very much! Now there aren't any error messages when starting "kdeinit".
But how can I start KDE after that? |
