please test the reiser4 in this release but be careful.
everyone getting lock ups with reiser4 while the system is under heavy load try this :
renice -15 `pgrep hda1` (where hda1 is your reiser4 partition)

and report back ASAP

For reiser4 lock ups while compiling, run this : pgrep hdXY | xargs renice -15 where hdXY is your reiser4 root partition.
and must NOT renice X or it won't work.
report back here on the irc channel ASAP please.

peace

here's the reiser4 patch seperatly if you want to reverse it, http://oneofone.limitlessfx.com/love-sources/reiser4-2.6.7-rc3-mm1-2004.06.09.patch.bz2

about nicksched, its pretty much broken in rc3-mm1 + mm's default scheduler actually feels smoother.
I emailed nick about it and he promised to look into it but he's a busy man.
@Dryre i couldnt wait :D

Will you put supermount back in, so some users at least have the option? SubFS is an absolutely pain in the butt for me. It constantly checks my drives every few seconds, floods my system log with errors when nothing is there, and means whenever I open a CD drive, it just closes itself again after a few seconds.

And don't get me started on my floppy drive...

I know supermount is evil for all sorts of reasons, but for some of us it 'just worked'.

actually, this is probably the last release with any sub/supermount.
i might provide a working supermount patch in next release but it'll be external.
cmon guys, people hated g-v-m because of the gnome deps, but now we have ivman.
just use ivman, beats the crap outta those sad excuses for a kernel patches like supermount and submount..

Just out of curiosity: Is this rc3-mm1 vanilla or post-rc3-mm1 based? The "vanilla mm1" seemes to be seriously fsked up, as I see a lot of patches appearing on lkml, so I think I'll skip this one and wait for next mm, which I expect soon...

Hello everyone!

I would really like trying out Reiser4, but I does not work for me. This is what I get:

Code:
  CC      fs/reiser4/debug.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/stats.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/jnode.o
fs/reiser4/jnode.c: In function `jload_prefetch':
fs/reiser4/jnode.c:884: warning: passing arg 1 of `prefetchw' discards qualifiers from pointer target type
  CC      fs/reiser4/znode.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/key.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/pool.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/tree_mod.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/estimate.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/carry.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/carry_ops.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/lock.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/tree.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/context.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/tap.o
  CC      fs/reiser4/coord.o
fs/reiser4/coord.c: In function `coords_equal':
fs/reiser4/coord.c:598: error: duplicate case value
fs/reiser4/coord.c:598: error: previously used here
make[2]: *** [fs/reiser4/coord.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [fs/reiser4] Error 2
make: *** [fs] Error 2

I am using an Athlon64 with love-sources-2.6.7_rc3-love1, gcc version 3.4.0 20040601, glibc 2.3.4.20040605 with NPTL.

It didn't work in the last version either. But when I disable Reiser4 it works fine...

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

What exactly do I have to do to reverse this patch? Do I need to add a line to the ebuild? I ask this because looking at the patch it is wanting to look at linux-2.6.7-rc3-mm1 and when I try to `patch -R < reiser.....` it doesn't have any of those files to look at. So I am assuming I'm doing something wrong.

to remove the reiser4patch
Code:

cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.7-rc3-love1
bzcat /path/to/reiser4-2.6.7-rc3-mm1-2004.06.09.patch.bz2|patch -p1 -R

Uncomment the performance control option (just after firmware option I think). It's a new thing in the mm patch and is on by default.
