I'm trying to emerge openoffice but I keep getting 403 forbidden errors :( Is there a problem with the package at the moment or a problem with me? I did an emerge sync a couple of days ago, but being on 56k I'm reluctant to do another until I know if it's fixed.

Think you mean the 403 http error, so probably something goes wrong while fetching, maybe some url changed or just temporary problem at server,

You're one brave man installing gentoo using a 56k modem, ;-)

The thing is I've had the error for about a week now. Just did another emerge sync and STILL forbidden.

As for the 56k thing, unfortunately there's no broadband available here :(, but it is shared using smoothwall and I'm on a no-disconnect package so it's quite bearable really.

I'm downloading the source now and not having any problems. Are you still having an issue with it? Perhaps you could post the output generated by your attempt at emerging the package?

Also, that's still pretty gutsy to install on a 56k connection. :)

Well it works here, so I don't know why you can't get it, but maybe you should try downloading it manually with a browser or something and place it in your distfiles dir.
