I have slected multiprocessor support in the menuconfig before I built the kernel. Is there a way that I can verify that Linux is using both processors. If it is not how cn I activate the other proc.

If you've enabled SMP in the kernel, there's no doubt in my mind that Linux is running both cores as much as it can. If you really want to verify, run "top" and look at the info in the headers; you should see load stats for both your processors. If you do, you know beyond a shadow of a doubt it's using both processors.

The nice thing about Linux is, (unlike Windows), that if you tell it to do something, it will do it. No "well, maybe I will, and maybe I won't, and every second Thursday of the month I'm going to give you real trouble about doing anything." Of course, that's also the 'danger' of Linux -- it will most certainly give you enough rope to hang yourself.

It worked they are both running. Now I have to figure out how to run all of my windows programs and games in Linux without windows runing in vmware.

That was a cool analogy!! I hanged my self four times before I got it to compile correctly. I have five lives left.

Thanks

Scott

*enter "grizzled linux voice"*

You really should look at some replacements for those Windows progs; there are equivalents or betters for most windows software. As far as those special ones go (Dreamweaver, DirectX games, etc.), there are always wine and winex. Good luck!

Here, check this out (I love this!)

cat /proc/cpuinfo:

Tell you everything you could ever want to know about your CPUs.

And it will show you two...

And, as far as windows programs, linux workalikes are as good, (most stuff) almost as good (openoffice) or vastly, vastly better (gaim, konqueror).
