When i type emerge -up world it doesn't want to upgrade jack?

have you tried upgrading jack maunally, the full name
is 'jack-audio-connection-kit'. This is a broken ebuild and
the latest ardour definitely requires recent jack.

yes david i think that woody is right, if you emerge jack for your self portage will reset the enviroment variables for you. and from that moment it shouldn't be a problem for configure to find the aproporate (or how the hell you spell it) version of jack.

Thanks for the replies, this worked.

But why didn't ardour install jack automatic? Is it a bug or did I do something wrong, if it's a bug, shall I submit it?

Yeah it seems like a broken dependency in the ardour
ebuild. Check if its already reported in bugzilla, o.w. be
kind and file a report.
