Try to enable SMP and smt support and it works...so far the only thing i change at your config here..and well it compile ---> these effect I saw the second time with nick sched..my friend has also AMD machine and I turned of the SMP..cause not need ...then i got these errors too...I know why I use the Intel Prescott (but still waste of money and thermal issues) _________________ [:: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 ]::[ Mainboard: ASUS P5B Deluxe ]::[ GPU: nVidia 7900GTO ::]

You can get iogl-sources @
http://www.f-mt.de/linux/iogl-sources/iogl-sources-2.6.7_rc-r2.ebuild
in the patch are
Nicksched v31
reiser4
bootsplash-2.6.7-rc2-r2.diff
supermount
vesafb-refresh-patch-2.6.6
some odds of pciids ---> started a thread to collect pciids and usbids ---> I would like to extend the pciid database:-)
some fixes from lkml.org |
cool, good news
but do you use reiser4?
i tried latest auto-snapshot on top of a clean rc2-mm1 and fixed 2 small hunks, the problem is it oops while booting.
@xfs problems : try enabling "Quick sort" in "Library routines"
@unknown_nmi_panic problems: enable APIC or totally disable acpi, it's -mm's fault and i thought i fixed it but looks like i missed something.
@reiser4 people: i'm dying to get reiser4 as well and i can put but i cant promise that it'll work.
it's 5:50am here and i haven't slept yet, i promise a new love when i wake up.

danone: tried your kernel, but sadly i have to confirm what oneofone thought, reiser4 gives an oops on boot... so i can't use it as my / is reiser4.. _________________ ...we ain't shit...

I got something similar to this when I first tried compiling vanilla 2.6.7-rc2-mm1 (not -rc2-love1). I traced it to a couple of patches that made xfs use the kernel qsort instead of its own which had been left out of -rc2-mm1 because, according to Andrew, the "broke". After a bit of fiddling to make them apply to -rc2-mm1 it compiled fine. These patches are in -rc2-love1 though so I can't explain why you're still getting this error. I can't replicate the problem here on -rc2-love1 so all I can suggest is that you make sure the kernel Quick Sort is enabled (though selecting XFS *should* do this for you). _________________ Wasurenaide...

Which version of love-sources would you say is the last stable release? I am currently running 2.6.5-love5 and wondering whether i should upgrade to 2.6.6. But reading the forums it seems people had problems with 2.6.6-love5 (actually i dont think it was an official release). Should i just wait for 2.6.7-loveX? |

Hi, i was wondering ... with this incredible number of different patchsets, how dow you test, benchmark and rate them?
I would like to try some of them , i'm using love-sources 2.6.6-love5 now, and test them about speed and reactivity , how would you do this?
Until now the only "test" i've made is using the kernel and check if it "seems good", but i would like something more "scientific"... hany hint?

Win4Lin FIX:
Code: | CC mm/truncate.o
CC mm/vmscan.o
mm/vmscan.c: In function `shrink_all_memory':
mm/vmscan.c:1196: error: `priority' undeclared (first use in this function)
mm/vmscan.c:1196: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
mm/vmscan.c:1196: error: for each function it appears in.)
make[1]: *** [mm/vmscan.o] Error 1
make: *** [mm] Error 2
|
For those who are having trouble with the above compilation errors, it is a win4lin problem. The #ifdef CONFIG_MKI block of code in vmscan.c is in the wrong place, it needs to be moved as follows:
cut (we need a copy of it so cut is easiest) from line 1196:
Code: |
#ifdef CONFIG_MKI
if (priority < DEF_PRIORITY) {
int mki_swap_pri = (priority < (DEF_PRIORITY - 1)) ?
MKI_HARD_PRIORITY : MKI_NORMAL_PRIORITY;
CALL_MKI_HOOK(MKI_HOOK_SWAP, (void *) mki_swap_pri,
(void *) 0);
}
#endif |
and paste the block in vmscan.c in at line 938.
(just after)
Code: | for (priority = DEF_PRIORITY; priority >= 0; priority--) {
int threshold;
|
It compiles that way, I can't test it (reiser4 partition) but if someone can let me know it works (it should do, no reason why not).
P.S. Can anyone link me to somewhere I can learn to make a patch? Seems odd as I do like to fix the win4lin problems and love fiddling with the kernel but am not really sure how to start posting a patch ( ) |

Well, in my latest tests the default O(1) scheduler got much better. In fact for me it seems to be smoother than Nichsched - even having reniced X. Esp if I have something running in the background sucking up CPU, Nicksched makes the overall responseness worse than O(1). I am currently on plain mm kernel - just for the feel... |

Something Nvidia related I have noticed:
Thanks to the newer 53.36 ebuilds, which don't need that module stuff reversed, I guess, I can now run the Nvidia driver *with* regparm enabled! I modified that ebuild for 53.41 and took the patch from minion.de. Furthermore the mm kernels now don't seem to enforce 4k stacks, so it runs for me straight out of the box. Very nice!
I tried the regparm stuff earlier, but it didn't work with an older version of the ebuild. If anyone wants this one, tell, then I'll post it in the nvidia thread...
BTW, since I apply that regparm patch for Nvidia driver and use kernels>2.6.6 I never had tha Nvidia related "soft" lock-ups with baddness in pci-serach bla anymore. |

I expierienced the same. Under the last two or three love-sources my desktop seemed less snappy than with older love-sources or current plain mm, especially during higher load. |

For the record, I did successfully install the ipw2100 package in portage, v0.44 and from what I can tell the driver works fine. Something amiss with the patching in love it seems. _________________ undvd - ripping dvds should be as simple as unzip |
