|
|
Hi all,
I need to install on a offline laptop. I downloaded the 1.4 ISO, and copied the portage tree from my desktop to a CD. After reboot, the 1.4 bood disk wouldn't let me unmount in order to copy the files from the portage tree CD. I extracted the 1.4 ISO to a dir on my desktop and dropped my portage tree under /home.
Now, I'm under windows. I'm using NERO. I see the files in the isolinux directory. I assume one of these is the boot image file I need to tell NERO to burn to the boot sector of the cdrom. But I'm not sure which file, or how to do it. I went to the SYSLINUX site, but they only tell how to burn a cd with linux...I can only use windows for burning.
Can anyone either tell me:
a) How to unmount the live cd so I can copy portage from a second cd?
b) How to make my modified livecd bootable?
Thanks in advance. |

u can't unmount it as far as I know because that's what your temp system is running off.
I'd love to know how to make a custom cd - then I can put in my own kernel and make support for software raid!
any pointers ? _________________ Kororaa install method - have Gentoo up and running quickly and easily, fully automated with an installer! |

You can read the Linux-BootDisk-howto to make a boot image or ElTorito image. Then add the packages you need and so on |
