I emerged Gnome and after it was done i logged in and there is some games, and a few other things. but there was no browser, and alot of things seem to be not there. I was wondering if i did something wrong or if this is just the way it is by default. also i get screensaver error on startup, and several things i try to open it says no viewer installed for that file ??
any help at all would be appreciated
thanx :D

Most likely that is just the default install. You'll need to emerge Mozilla or some other browser. What is the screensaver error?

The error you're probably seeing is that you don't have xscreensaver installed. You can:

1. just tell it not to display the error again. which doesn't harm anything.

or

2. install xscreensaver. (emerge xscreensaver)

Galeon2 is going to be the default gnome 2.2 browser.
ATM you need a patched mozilla to use it - hopefully
that will end with 2.2 and the galeon boys will make a
release.

If you want to try it out do
Code:
emerge galeon-cvs

which will install galeon2 and mozilla 1.1 with the required patches.

I just did a freshing emerge of gnome 2.. anyone else missing all the audio files. Seems like it didn't install any applications even though they were all emerged, it's just basically using all the ones from KDE's default. Also didn't install sound events even though the gnome-audio was emerged also.. hehe seems like it not picking up half the files.. really weird.. Also get a note about hostname when i first longin but internet and everything works fine..

it is fast though.. i compiled it with 02 instead of 03 compiler options too..

Do I have to emerge ORBit seperately? Or any of the other Gnome components? I have Evolution happliy running with a previous config from my hold home directrory. Accessessing any of the configuration menus brings up a segfault window and bug-buddy. The error text is all corba errors.

I'm wanting to know the same thing, how to install the gnome audio components. I did emerge xmms already, but that hasn't helped any. I'll keep searching the forums and post whatever I find that helps me.
