I've got some great ideas:
  • cfdisk (I see I'm not alone on this one)
  • vim (or this one)
  • Never let the ISO's get bigger than 185MB so we can burn them to those awesome 3.25" CD-R's
  • add
    • export CONFIG_PROTECT=""
    • emerge --pretend system (can drop this maybe?)
    • emerge system
to the bootstrap.sh so we can leave for work or goto bed and come back real happy ;)
  • add some perfetly sized covers to pick from for gentoo in the Graphics section to go into those awesome 3.25" CD-R jewel cases
  • death metal playing while it bootstraps  --

Cheers guys, and thanks for the fastest, greatest linux!

the tiny cd thing was funny, but this idea:

add
export CONFIG_PROTECT=""
emerge --pretend system (can drop this maybe?)
emerge system

I ABSOLUTELY agree with... since they are done back to back with the bootstrap. nice call

Why don't you try this? :)

Code:
# cd /usr/portage
# scripts/bootstrap.sh && export CONFIG_PROTECT="" && emerge system

Oh sure. Take the long way. Isn't it easier to have the developers throw it in, take a couple of hours to test it, then get complaints from people who want/need to do something different (like skip the bootstrap step) then get them to program a menu where we can use our mouse to check the options we want with lots and lots of "are you sure?" boxes....... Oh wait, I could just use windows. :x

I never thought of it.
