i've got a ps/2 generic wheel mouse. i don't remember when this started, but it's been pretty bad lately. when i start x for the first time after rebooting it will almost always bring up my desktop, but the mouse will not work. i can move it, but it moves in the wrong directions and "clicks" when i'm not clicking. it's weird. i kill x and start it up again.. it will either do the same thing or i will not be able to move or click my mouse at all.

usually after this i will have to restart x a lot until i get a working mouse. i'm talking like 10-20+ tries before it will work. this is really frustrating. has anyone seen this problem? here's what i have in my XF86Config-4 for the mouse:

Code:

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier  "Mouse1"
    Driver      "mouse"
    Option "Protocol"    "IMPS/2"
    Option "Device"      "/dev/mouse"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

Anyone have any ideas? I'm stuck.[/code]

Have you tried another mouse? Or tried wiggling the ps/2 connecter in the motherboard a little. Sounds like it might be a hardware thing.

Also, you may want to try and enter the dpi of the mouse into the Xconfig by hand.

Face it, we are all noobs.

On the box it said it was designed for Win XP or better, so why won't it work with Linux?
