!!! Error: couldn't find match for net-im/licq in update (likely old /var/db/pkg entry)

also:
what happens to a program's config files when you unmerge it? :lol:

For one: did you do a emerge rsync before the update?
For two: I think if it has been overwritten or changed it will stay on your system. At least that's what the Portage User Guide tells me.

Remove net-im/licq from your world file

Yup that will solve it, but it won't get updated with emerge --update world

You will probably find that licq has been masked, that is why you are getting these errors.

Either unmask it in /usr/portage/profiles/packages.mask (by placing a # on the line for licq)

or

Remove it from youe /var/cache/edb/world file.

the thing is i do have licq installed!
