i tried to install gentoo from stage 1 with xfs filesystem.
/dev/hdc1 ext3
/dev/hdc2 swap
/dev/hdc3 xfs
i downloaded xfs-sources but i got the following error:
unpacking patches
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh
!!!ERROR:the ebuild didnt complete successfully
!!!Function kernel_src_unpack Line 34 exit code 127
!!!Addpatches failed.Bad KERNEL_ExCLUDE?
what that means?
i tried then ,after downloading xfsprogs but again the same error

Does your kernel support xfs?

what iso are you using? did you set or change the any of the make.conf and USE settings ..... if you have made changes to these setting try using the default settings and see if you can get the kernel to build.

well rommel i changed the default settings to optimise for my pc.this was a complete failure cause now i cant get my network to work and reinstall gentoo.by the way can anybody tell me how can i make a 1.4 rc1 cd like the gentoo 1.2 iso with kernel inside so i will not need network until build the base system?
otherwise i must wait until final 1.4 which will come with gentoo reference platform

fresh install of 1.4 stage1.

hda1 swap
hda2 /boot
hda3 /

after i bootstrap and emerge system, i try to 'emerge xfs-sources'.

i get the same error about KERNEL_ExCLUDE?

i read this post and tried to emerge gentoo-sources after putting USE="xfs" in /etc/make.conf

however after emerge gentoo-sources, the xfs-patch wasn't install because i had not option to build XFS support under File Systems.

is there a fix for the emerge xfs-sources, or perhaps a way i can patch gentoo-sources with the xfs support?

thanks in advance
