I have a matrox G450 video card (AGP 4X). When X starts, I check the xfree86.log (in /var/log) and I notice that X only run at 1X AGP.
I have a lot of memory (512MB), so I don't think of low memory problem.
Is there any reason why X only use 1X mode?
Any idea to fix this?
Thanks

AGP 1X is the most stable mode of them all, but you don't compile your packages with -O either, don't you? :-) Seriously though, I have a Matrox G400 that supports 4X and run on a i440BX chipset that supports 2X. I set it to 2X and it's as stable as a rock.

I did it by simply reading the documentation that came with my Matrox DRI driver. It had an option I could set in XF86Config that made it run in AGP 2X. Some drivers that ship with XFree have their driver options documented in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/Options.
