|

Hi there,
I have a couple of clones laying around and figured I'd load them up with Gentoo, since I love it so on x86.
But I'm a bit confused on which image to use. I don't see any 1.4rc1 isos, only the 1.2 iso. Should I use the 1.2 iso from bootx and then use a stage 2/3 1.4rc1 tarball?
Since they are old-world, I'll load up a MacOS partition and BootX.
Hardware includes:
UMAX S900 604e/200
PowerCenterPro 604/180
Video is either onboards or a pair of IMS/ATI Twin Turbo 128s
300MB RAM to split between the boxen
Various Adaptec SCSI cards in addition to the onboards
Thanks in advance,

yep. boot from the 1.2 ISO and the use the appropriate 1.4_rc1 stage1/2/3 tarball. |

Would also be curious how the ISO kernel works on your umax.. had a bug report a while back from a user that had kernel issues (with the serial driver it seems) on one of them, but dissappeared and I have no working 900 (I actually have one that's not too happy right now) to test on.
If you have any problems, or it works I would love to hear your results, and if it works possibly the output of dmesg might help me.
TIA

That's why I'm doing this, to help you developers out. Could you be as specific as possible for how you would like the setup of the 900? You would prefer that I use the stock kernel off the 1.2 ISO? What about video? Use the on-board or the TT128? I recall using linuxppc a few years ago, and support for the TT128 vidcard was already there.

the 1.2 ISO kernel would be preferable (to make sure it doesn't have that serial problem I suspect it might).
As for anything else it doesn't matter. Thanks for helping out |
