|

Hi,
I've managed to get my hands on an IBM pSeries (I think it's a B50 or something) and I'd like to get Gentoo onto it. I've downloaded the 1.2 ppc ISO but I have no idea how to get the server to actually boot from the CD. I used to admin a few RS6000's and pressing '5' just before AIX kicked in brought up the boot menu but on the pSeries I can't stop if from booting straight into AIX.
Does anyone know how to get the CD to boot?
Many thanks for any info... |

The ISO is not bootable for those machines unfortunately. Can't make a hybrid ISO that boots mac based and RC6000, about the only options would be to:
a) roll your own ISO
b) send me an RS6000 box to play with
Sorry

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what my next step should be now. This server seems to be an 7026-CIA for which I can find hardly any info on the web and all the versions of Linux for the PPC seem to be geared at the Mac. Currently it runs AIX 4.* which is a loathesome operating system. If I can't get Linux (pref. Gentoo) running on it then it's going straight back into stores
I've managed to get to the boot menu but as you say, the ISO is not bootable on this server. Any ideas how one would go about an install on this thing? |
