Which config file does Metalog really use?
The man page suggests /etc/metalog/metalog.conf
But looking at the code /etc/init.d/metalog it references /etc/conf.d/metalog.
/etc/conf.d/metalog has the following:
# Config file for /etc/init.d/metalog
# Add '-s' if you dont want buffering. (See things realtime)
METALOG_OPTS="-B"
Anybody have an idea what the "-B" option is?
Could this be why some of my log files do rotate, but not others?
My system: P150, 128Mb RAM, running 2.4.19-gentoo-r9
Thanks--BuzB |

Hi,
OK -B means daemonize (run metalog --help)
My metalog.conf is in /etc/metalog/metalog.conf
Hope that helps

Thanks----after I posted I ran "metalog --help" and noticed what the -B was for.
I also have a /etc/metalog/metalog.conf, that is what I've been making changes to, however looking at the /etc/init.d/metalog script it has the following reference:
# NB: Config is in /etc/conf.d/metalog
Just wondering which it really uses.
Apparently I have some logs that rotate regularly, but others (like mysql) don't. Any idea how to get metalog to perform this? |

Hi,
There do seem to be a few comments such as the location of the config file in scripts etc which are not correct. As you have noticed this I would recommend that you post a bug report to ensure that the code is keep clean and is not missleading.
As for how to configure Metalog I afraid that I'm not guru on that, hopefully there is some documentation in /usr/share/doc or on the web. Sorry I can't help you directly on that
