I must be inept...
I can't find the grub.conf file I thought it was in /boot/grub/ but the only thing in /boot is bzImage, the strange thing (I think) is that the computer boots and runs fine... how do I find out where grub is getting its information for boot and how do I change it? |

What's wrong today, did somebody unmask GRUB > 0.91 or something? Second time today that somebody asks about grub.conf and gets an answer about menu.lst... Which really is the same file, except that for some reason GRUB has decided to expect a different filename since version 0.92, I believe.
As to the initial question: You need to mount /boot everytime you want to do anything on your /boot partition. Otherwise anything you save/copy/move there is going to get written to a /boot directory on your root partition, only to be completely ignored at bootup. |
