Hi,
I tried to emerge kile, but it failed saying it cannot find lkghostview.
I installed ghostview before but there is no ebuild for kghostview.
Should not this lib be a dependencies for kile ? _________________ "May God stands between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk" - Babylon 5 |

Kile fails to emerge, it needs kghostview which comes with kdegraphics.
So i suppose kdegrapics should be a prerequisite to kile.
Anyway "#emerge kdegraphics kile" compiles and emerges both.
Although kile crash at startup:
Code: |
_KDE_IceTransmkdir: Owner of /tmp/.ICE-unix should be set to root
DCOPServer up and running.
KCrash: crashing.... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = kile path = <unknown> pid = 11441

I'm using klat http://lumumba.luc.ac.be/jori/klat/klat.html for latex edition, there isn't any ebuild package but it compiles fast and works. |

I'm using 1.4rc1, kile compiles without flaws.
After initializing it crashes, apparently when trying to create the window that shows the LaTeX output. But I could not go any deeper with the debugging.
If anybody has any help, please advice! Thanks! |

Hello,
I found out how to make it working. The error was after opening the kiledvi.rc file; however, there was nothing wrong with that. I had the usual options in CPPFLAGS ("-O3 -march=pentium3 -mcpu=pentium3" for my PC). I found out (hey, newbie talking...) that removing the first two optimization options creates a working Kile. Finally a serious LaTeX editor!!
Hope this helps others with the same problems as mine.
