Anyone try "emerge update"?

I just tried it...and it craps out

Calculating dependencies !!! Couldn't find match for update; aborting.

Now, is it trying to find a package called "update" to emerge or is it that my system does not need updating?

perhaps you are meaning to use "emerge --update world" That will get the newest versions of all available packages installed on your computer. I would recommend doing an "emerge rsync" first to get the most recent lists of packages.

i believe that just emerge update world will work with the newest version of portage. however, emerge -u and emerge --update are both correct.

The man page kind of added that "world" bit all the way in the end...should be the first thing...
