ok i've searched the forums, tried a lot of things to make that work.....but..i guess this is over my level, i am kinda a newbie on gentoo linux.
here is the error i get when emerging kde :

If anyone has that problem, knows a working workaround, that would be greatly apreciated...thanks a lot for yall help

first off, do you have latest portage?
emerge rsync
emerge portage
emerge kde
could try that

ok, i did that, and then went to https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9423
where it says there is a solution...
so i am curently emerging xfree 4.2.0, then i'll try emerging kde and let yall know about it

 THANKS, I have been kicking my own butt for a week now trying to figure this problem out. On a lighter note, I have grown to love fluxbox even better now, but kde is still pretty looking enough for my wife to use

IT WORKS!!!
so the solution posted on the bug report is good, a bit long but good....
You only have to emerge 2 different xfree
i had no pbs with that on my "good" computer (athlon tbird 1.4) but i'll wait a bit before trying it on my celeron 500 lol
