I am trying to set up openoffice.

emerge openoffice seems to have worked (I didn't get any errors).

emerge -p openoffice now shows

These are the packages that I would merge, in order.

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild R ] app-office/openoffice-1.0.1-r1

So it is apparently installed.

However, I can't seem to find the binaries anywhere.

apropos openoffice and apropos OpenOffice both come up with nothing, as does man oppenoffice and man OpenOffice. I also tried all with .org at the end. Still nothing.

whereis openoffice
openoffice: /etc/openoffice

while whereis OpenOffice finds nothing.

There is an /opt/OpenOffice, it contains setup and spadmin links, and a user folder. The links are to program/setup and program/spadmin, neither of which exist.

Any ideas?

I'm going to try emerging it again tonight. But it seems quite odd.
