Software raid -- HOW TO please help

i have not had any luck with my promise hardware raid controller and it has been suggested to me that software raid is faster anyway

now i am going to try software.
Mud found this url http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-raid1/index.html but kit talks about raid toos and compiling etc, and i cant do that be cause i dont have a system to compile; yet

please help, i need Gentoo Softwarer-Raid HOW-TO if there is one that exsits.
ps i know it can be done

did you read the articles drobbins wrote? look under the articles section for them ....he links other related articles too.

pretty much goes like this

boot from iso....fdisk and change the partition codes of the raid partitions to FD, create your /etc/raidtab then modprobe md

this is a simplification but read and it will become clear....just remember the ' modprobe md '
