It seems when I start Eterm it isn't reading form the .bashrc or whatever because I just get a sh-2.05a $ instead of the normal thing I get in the virtual console. Anyway to fix this?

Are you sure that /bin/bash is your login shell?

nevermind found it. It is set to nothing. I do SHELL=/bin/bash and export SHELL but then it still won't keep the variable...

Do chsh -s /bin/bash username as root, and relogin with username.

All fixed :). Thanks. Must have gotten b0rked when I tried to merge openoffice and it merged tcsh...
