'evening,
I have two Gentoo'd computers:
Celeron 667@700, 768mb RAM, Geforce DDR (32mb) (GCC 3.2)
Pentium IV 2000 256 mb RAM, Radeon Mobility M6 LY (32mb) (GCC 3.1) (laptop)
The first runs Gentoo 1.4 using XFree 4.2.0 with the latest Nvidia driver. Both Half-Life and Warcraft III run quite well, considering the relatively light CPU.
Since I won't have any transportion (aside public transport) to an upcoming LAN-event, I'm trying to get both games to work on the laptop. The laptop is running XFree 4.2.0 aswell with a fairly recent DRM radeon module: 20020611. Half-Life seems quite happy already, and is up and running. Warcraft III however gives me a black screen.. I did here the quaking noises from the menu coming out of the speakers, but no video..
What could be wrong here? What info is relevant for this problem? I assume the problem is in the radeon driver or the currently installed GL libs? xscreensaver and Half-Life work though.. |
