How can I tell what my cpu is? Specifically, I have an AMD athlon, but how do I know if it's a thunderbird or what? /proc/cpuinfo doesn't seem to say - does this mean it's a plain athlon or not necessarily?

I have a 1.333ghz cpu. My cousin has a 1ghz athlon too.

Thanks.

If /proc/cpuinfo tells you that the model is 4, then it should be a thunderbird.

I have an AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1400. cat /proc/cpuinfo says:

vendor_id : AuthenticAMD
cpu family : 6
model : 4
model name : AMD Athlon(tm) processor

Maybe

link

or

http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_docs/20734.pdf

will help identifying your CPU

EDIT: Changed long url to 'link' for phpbb sanity. - kanuslupus
