Sorry to be a pain guys/gals. but I am very new to gentoo, I am coming from a redhat background. so please bare with me.

after bootstrap when I do the emerge -p system then step onto the emerge system it fails at this point 2 times so far.

What are your CFLAGS?

i believe the first thing to check would be the -O3 in yer CFLAGS
i dropped mine down to -O2 and it went through everything fine.

setting it to 02 worked.
