|
|
Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to install gentoo for the first time. I have a quad pentium pro system that I am trying to install it on and I would like to have gentoo build everything with a make -j 4 inorder to make sure that it uses all 4 of my cpus. Would someone be kind enough to let me know if there is a simple way to do this.
Thanks,

I think it's in /etc/make.conf
Under the cflag, add -j 4

This is set in /etc/make.globals as MAKEOPTS="-j2". To override it, edit /etc/make.conf and add MAKEOPTS="-j4". BTW, if you have 4 CPUs, set it to -j5. _________________ | www.gentoo.org | www.tldp.org | www.google.com | |

Is -j(X+1) usually best, where X=num of cpu's? |
