I have an Oldworld 9600 ( 604e chip), with 192 MB of Ram and 2 Hard Disk.
I have on a CD the 1.2 ISO track and on another CD the 1.4 rc1 tarball.
The Problem start here.... the boot stop at this point before installation begin.
Serial driver version 5.05c (2001-07-0 with MANY_PORTS SHARE_IRQ SERIAL_PCI
I have tried to install it with the 1.2 ISO track on the secondary hard disk.
I have installed bootx on the secondary hard disk.
In BootX the Ramdisk size was 26000,More kernel arguments was set to rw. I've tried all the options and useed the RAM Disk initrd.img |

I would suggest (for now) trying a kernel from ppckernel.org. We have seen this issue a couple of times now, but it doesn't seem to affect all machines.
If it works with a kernel from ppckernel.org, please let us know. |

I started an install today on a 9600, with the exact same problem.
I decided to try the kernel that came with the Yellow Dog 2.3 install.
So far, so good. I'm currently in the middle of the "bootstrap" process with no problems to speak of.
Being a newbie, I can only hope this is going to work. |
