Is it possible with gentoo to skip the grub and just add gentoo to my Lilo setup and go from there. I run multiple distros or at least I try to (I am a real noob to linux, only 6 months using and started from scratch with no help whatsoever). I really do not see why I cannot do this, but if there is some major problem somebody let me know so I dont go and need to recompile all over again (#3).
Thanks |

I did this with Suse 7.3. With that version you have to copy the kernel to the Suse boot partition, name it something like vimulz.gentoo( not quite right, but close) then run Yast and add a new entry to the boot options. I'm sure you could do that from the command line. Worked perfectly.

I have lilo with gentoo and Xp and works like a charm. When you got the the point where you need to setup grub just emerge lilo and configure lilo.conf mannualy or by liloconfig. then run lilo -v and reboot |
