|
|
I like KMail, but I find the ASCII-armoured PGP signature handling despicable. Having said that, the new KMail in CVS seems to support both PGP/MIME and S/MIME, and I would very much like to try it out. Will I have to install and run the entire KDE from CVS, or is it possible to limit the hassle to just KMail? |

Hmm, I think you'll need at least arts, and kdelibs for kmail from cvs to work (i think qt-copy is needed as well).
And kmail is in kdenetwork so you'll need to rebuild at least some of the packages for kde. I think the best (and safest) would be to rebuild entire kde from cvs _________________ There's someone in my head but it's not me - Pink Floyd |

Thanks a lot for the precise answer! I guess I'll go for the whole shebang. This is still how it's done, right?
I wouldn't mind if my current version was replaced by KDE 5 rather than having an additional KDE to worry about. But that's because I'm still very much at war with all the desktop environments, fully-fledged Japanese support is a source of constant chagrin to me, one that never seems to dry up. Nothing to whine about though, it is Gentoo, after all, so by definition, faults are nobody's but my own... Don't I like a good challenge here and there. |

KDE 3.1 Beta2 is nice. KMail has improvements to its operation, haven't had any stability problems with it and not a bug yet to be discovered. This is the final release canidate before 3.1 goes gold. |
