emerge not working at all (SOLVED)

After summer vacation I tried to update my packages, but emerge seems not to be working at all:

Someone tested the latest ati-drivers with bios 3c22 and does it solve the flickering problem?

Did you guys get the gnome keyboard shortcut voulme up/down/mute works?

Seems that gnome-shortcuts controll the PCM, and not the Front..

Know where to change this?

Gnome 2.10 and volume applet

After upgrading to gnome 2.10 I cant find the volume applet (add to panel)

I've tried to re-emerge but no luck..

Sound works fine when playing mp3's..

Suggestions?

When trying to emerge xterm I get the following error while compiling:

I switched to bios 3c22 again (and wait for a fix with dancing lines). I run vesa-drivers now..

3c17 gave me too many kernel panic (sata) and issues regarding acpi..

Not at full speed, but its on..

I read that in bios 3c11, the fan was just active when not idle..

Lets hope a new bios solves this problem, and the dancing lines ;)

Speaking of ACPI..

Did you get the fan control to work?

I emerged cpufreqd and the cpu scales from 800 to 2000 Mhz.. But the fan is always on .. :(

I tried that, I installed kernel with only sound enabled, no alsa or OSS. Deleted the previous modules, emerged again. I still get the same errors.

I had the same error-messages as you, when I tried to install hda-intel soundcard. What I had to do, is compile kernel with

3c22 didn't do the trick about those dancing lines but the good news is 3c17!! :D

But I still have some errors i dmesg:

mtrr: base(0xd0000000) is not aligned on a size(0x7ff0000) boundary
[fglrx:firegl_addmap] *ERROR* mtrr allocation failed (-22)
allocation failed: out of vmalloc space - use ...

I would guess we just have to wait for a driver update on ati-drivers..... :(

In the meantime, did any of you acer tm8100-users get the battery indicator to work?

And what soundcard-drivers do you use?

During bootup i get the following errormessage:

That did the trick.. But..

Seems to be problems with my java installation then.. Tried to start netbeans4, and it crashed! So I have some searching to do.

mozilla firefox problems

Having a strange problem with mozilla firefox.

When entering some pages, it exits! This also ocures this epiphany. (on the same page)

When i run /usr/lib/MozillaFirefox/firefox-bin it works fine, and when I run firefox as root, it also works fine.

But firefox as normal user, it crash/exits.

And ...
