java.sun.com coffee cup

Im not joking, if you think the default behaviour could be improved then go fix it. I agree with you on the filename thing - it shouldn't be a difficult fix. Maybe i'll do it myself...

you can download the source code for gtk from cvs at
:pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.gnome.org:/cvs/gnome/
module gtk+
either it'll be fixed there, or you could make a patch yourself :)

either way is just as fun. bye

it'd be real nice if emerge could save all those messages somewhere, for those of us who don't sit there and read the screen while doing an upgrade

ie most of us.

kde is enormous. nuf said.

However - what you could have done is emerge -pvt kde to get a list of kde packages and what USE flags they use, then turn some use flags on or off to maybe not compile some things you dont need.

I compiled it on a duron 900 once, it took forever. hang in there :P

There is a plugin for beep media player which looks similar (i haven't used the one you mention).
http://homepages.upb.de/stefanb/headphone/

emerge beep-media-player
it is similar to winamp 3 i believe? it also takes the same skins

Plugins for it are here: http://www.sosdg.org/~larne/w/Plugin_list

That depends on the application. As far as i know, there is no way to write plugins directly for the alsa layer, so you'll have to get a normalizing plugin for whatever media player you're using. I know there's one for XMMS... not sure about anything else (but i've never looked either)

That means you need to install a JDK as opposed to a JRE.
For example, emerge blackdown-jdk. then run (as root) java-config -S blackdown-jdk

you only need to run the 'hearts' executable (or the menu item)
When you start it, it tries to connect to a hearts server on hearts.luispedro.org but there isn't one runing. If you leave it long enough (like 2 minutes or something) it'll timeout and you will be able to play locally.

I will report a ...

AFAIK, ext3 is just ext2 with a journal. You create an ext3 partition with 'mke2fs -j'; ie all ext2 tools should work with ext3.
