Everything went fine except one package: oath-toolkit. I don't know if the fault is due to the new GCC or what, I already unmerged 6.4.0 so I can't try right now.

Does anyone know about upstream fixes for Spectre V1? And what will be required for that? A GCC Update and a kernel recompile?

I think a kernel recompile will be enough, I just upgraded to 4.14.14 and the tool says:

STATUS: VULNERABLE (only 51 opcodes found, should be >= 70, heuristic to be ...

I solved the plasmashell issues in late august switching from "13.0/desktop" to "13.0/desktop/plasma" then recompiling with emerge -N

How do we know when we can emerge the rebuilt version?

I just updated Python to 3.5 and revdep-rebuild keeps saying that libreoffice-bin should be re-emerged.

Tried "revdev-rebuild -i" but nothing changes.

Same situation here.

I get 100% on a core (single thread) and X is almost unresponsive, sometimes plasma reboots by itself but most of times I have to manually kill x.

Since about a week things are getting worse:

- very slow start, like minutes (on i7 + SSD)
- a LOT of errors like "QXcbConnection ...

Looks like it was a firmware problem: I switched from sys-kernel/linux-firmware to sys-firmware/radeon-ucode and finally it works, I'm gonna try with 4.0.5.

Tried again, this time with 3.14.48 importing the old config and manually checking differences, still same behaviour:

CONFIG_DRM_KMS_FB_HELPER is forced to yes and I can't find any other difference (maybe this isn't the problem btw).

With 3.10.41-r1 /proc/fb contains "0 radeondrmfb", from 3.14.48 ...

It's not the first time I have to deal with this error but this time I can't fix it.

With 3.10.41-r1 everything works, it's more than a year that I try to update the kernel but still get this error.

Same error here, I tried all the solutions posted here but to successfully start X I had to downgrade both xorg-server and xf86-video-ati masking

Facendo emerge -p world da' errore (circular dependencies) e piu' che altro lo da' con qualsiasi emerge se non metto --nodeps...quello che mi servirebbe e' qualcosa che salti la compilazione vera e propria e ricrei solamente /var/db/ e che non penso esista :(
