im soo use to having gentoo as my only os because hda1 is usually my boot and this time im dual booting and hda1 is winxp dat was exactly the problem it was suppose to be (hda0,1)....thanx a bunch geniux for all your help....appriciate it.

1 last question lol....how do you turn dma on ...

ok boot needed to be mounted

1 more thing my splash screen doesn't come up all i get is a flashing cursor on the top left corner but i still get it to work by jst pressing up or down key depending on wat i wanna boot but it would be really great if the grub screen shows up.....it worked last time i ...

no i already went thru the whole installation process and made grub it boots up but i want to edit something but when i open up grub.conf its all empty......so wat i wuz askin is y is dat ?

i need to edit grub but when i type nano -w /boot/grub/grub.conf the grub.conf file is empty am i editing the right file ?......if not can some1 plz tell me where exactly is the grub.conf.

Hi,

im dual booting winxp and gentoo i have winxp on hda1 and / on hda 4 all i wanna know is in grub.conf when you type

wat would my rootnoverify look lyke if i have winxp on hda1 would it be (hd0,1) or (hd0,0) ???? im really ...

you dunt have to burn to 2004.2. i used 2004.1 and downloaded 2004.2 while installing

try:
lspci | grep Ethernet
or
lspci
to find out what card you have and then modprobe <your card> and then dhcpcd eth1....it works fine after that.

Hi,
i ran the steam installer with cedega it went through the install process fine and even updated steam fine but after updating i get this error:

err:module:BUILTIN_LoadModule loaded .so but dll winealsa.drv still not found

Hi,

i was wondering if there is a way to change font color in terminal i have a light background transparent terminal and would like to change the font color....is this possible ?

if yes can some1 please explain how this can be done.

Hi i am trying to get wineX and i ran the
GetCVSWineX_Pthreads auto script and during
checkout i alwayz get this error message:

i did show the error/output it gave me after i did emerge nvidia..anyways how do you use almc or are you talking about the auto xorg thing you do ?

and y does it keep on saying cant use depth 24. i can't use 24 (true colors) on this monitor?

nope same error as b4

i dunt kno y it says driver can't support depth 24 when i set the defaultdepth to 21 because my monitor supports 21.2 in depth.

when i run the auto detect xorg.conf it starts x but den the resolution is soooo big it goes outa da screen.

ok i found out my monitor specs:

HorizSync: 30.0-110.0
VertRefresh: 50.0-150.0
Max Resolution: 1600 x 1280
Depth: 21.2 in
Dot Pitch: 0.28mm

i added that to the above HorizSync and the VertRefresh and for defaultdepth i put 21 now i get an error when i startx sayin:

Refresh rate doesn't have anything to do with the size of the montor.

yes i kno that...the reason i gave my "monitor size" wuz to be more specific and to be exact on how much resolution i wanted....can i get some HELP rather than telling me what is what and tryin to make me feel stupid....nice ...

can check mine and see whats wrong wit this....the resolution is really really big and going way out of the screen:

well that wouldn't help fix the problem.....

i stated two problems:

* i need to set my resolution for a 21 monitor - can some1 tell me the correct settings.

* need help with adding the monitor to xorg for ex for manufacturer i put Nokia and for model i put down 445XiPlus what do i put for vendor ...
