Do I need to do something special to update phyton?

I did do an emerge of phyhton like ultraincognito suggested but ....:

Code: Select all

emerge -p app-admin/eselect-python-20100321
!!! 'app-admin/eselect-python-20100321' is not a valid package atom.
!!! Please check ebuild(5) for full details.

Updating an old profile: Phyton, Portage and Eselect BLOCKED

I am trying to update an older Gentoo installation (previous 2008.0 profile), but I jump in the following blocked packages.

emerge -p portage

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

[SOLVED] Accidentally removed /usr/portage/profiles/.....

I've somehow accidentally removed my /usr/portage/profiles/default/linux/x86/2008.0 directory on an old file server

Since it is one of these embedded things I don't really feel like rebuilding the whole system

Is there a quickfix to restore the old profile directory?

Duplicating a server [Solved]

Hi,

I want to duplicate a server in a very straight forward manner

dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb
Place the disk in the copied system and change the ipaddress and the server name.

I've done this before in the past but I remember that I need to remove a file before I reboot the new copied machine to ...

Gallery2, mod_rewrite loaded but not working

I run Gallery2 on an Apache2 SSL Vhosts. Everything seems to work fine except for: mod_rewrite.

I checked that mod_rewrite is loaded using phpinfo

On the gallery2 page http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Modules:rewrite I found that I should add the line:

<Directory /full/path/to/gallery2 ...

Roundcube, php - DOM XML: NOT OK [solved]

Hi,

I am trying to install roundcube on a new gentoo box running the installer script of roundcube.

After the first step: checking if all required packages are available, roundcube returns: DOM XML: NOT OK

So it seems that I do need to add some kind of USE flag when I emerge php but which one is ...

Server Software for Pinnacle/Roku SoundBridge

I am looking for a stable server solution for a SoundBrigde.

I tried the mt-daapd 0.2.4.1 but the Soundbridge doesn't seem to be compatible with it.

When I tried the stable nightly build version svn-1586 it turned out to be very unstable. It might be the result of the fact that I did not compile ...

Install VMware-server [solved]

Hi,

I am trying to install vmware server but it seems to be blocked by the ~x86 keyword. Since I prefer only to use stable packages I don't have the ~x86 flag enabled by default.

I thought that I could simply emerge the package and install it by using:
USE="~x86" emerge -a vmware-server
but this ...

incoming mail: 550 Relay not permitted [solved]

Altough this issue is most likely to be an issue with my Astaro firewall I still posted it here since the Astaro community is not so very active.

My setup is relatively simple: I have an Astaro firewall, with an smtp relay host and behind there is a Gentoo postfix mailserver. I have been using ...

Well I started from scratch and did the copy /usr/lib/portage/world trick which makes life fairly easy.

Make an nfs export on the old system and copied everything to the new box. Copy the relevant files from /etc and well this surely is a hell of a lot faster
