this is my problem:
I want to use an airport extreme base station as my ap. In my PC I have installed a D-Link DWL-500 wlan-card. I've installed pcmcia-cs and the drivers load correctly. With iwconfig I can see the correct SSID for my wlan, the correct MAC-address of the base station, etc ...

Because I have a PowerBook with the Radeon 9000 I have to use the snapshop. The stable branch doesn't support the chipset.

I tried to use truetype fonts for getting an antialiased desktop. After some attempts I noticed that the freetype module isn't loaded during X startup. So I added a line

Load "freetype"

in my XF86Config-4 file. But when I start xfontsel now X crashes immediately. Does anyone know what I do wrong ...

Finally I got the german keymap working in X. But now I discovered anonther small problem with the keymap: '<' and '>' don't work. Can someone tell me what I have to do to get it working? I've installed XFree 4.2.99.3-rc1 on my PowerBook G4.

currently I'm still using 2.4.20-ben1. This one seems to be 1 month old and since then there are no new ben-kernels. Which one should I use instead? What is the difference between the various bitkeeper-kernels I can get from ppckernel.org?

Ok, perhaps it's a littlebit to late. I just tested both kernel on my PowerBook G4 867Mhz and they both work fine. There's only one small thing with the bk-kernel: when I close the lid the laptop goes to sleep mode as it should. But the apple on the back of the lid is still illuminated.

Seems as though the 2.5 series won't recognize my root partition, it kernel panics saying it can't find it although the 2.4 series don't complain. Both uses the same 'root=####'.

you have to use the complete devfs-path for your root-partition. that worked for me.

do i need any special versions of some utilities for running 2.5.50? my problem is that the modules don't load. i always get the QM_MODULES error. i've testet it with modutils 2.4.20 and 2.4.22 but the error is still there. please help me....

No, afaik there is no support for the radeon 9000/M9 stuffs at all yet for ppc.

what do you mean? does xfree not support the radeon 9000? what things can i expect not to work?

i'm using kernel 2.5.44 and tried to install the nvidia-kernel-module. the module compiles and loads fine but when i start x all i get is a black screen and my computer hangs. only a hard restart helps. can you tell me what goes wrong here?

do you mean that i will get better opengl-performance with the cvs version of xfree? if i'm not wrong there will be a new xfree-version early next year. do you think xfree and opengl on ppc will get better with this version?
