Hey all.

I have a Canon LiDE 220 scanner connected via USB. It only returns a black image on previews and scans both with Skanlite and via the command line.

Scanimage -A shows it, Scanimage -T passes. The site shows it's supported by the genesys backend, which I have set in make.conf under SANE ...

I've been running vim without syntax highlighting but think I'd like to try again to get this fixed.
I noticed there are no help files so :h option doesn't work with anything.

Just normally, from the terminal.

vim 'file'

Maybe the filetype has to be set in the file, or there has to be a file extension for it to detect?

I have emerged VIM-9.0.2167 (without the minimal flag) and there is no syntax highlighting. I also have "filetype plugin on" and "syntax on" in my .vimrc

Hi all.

I have some usb speakers, a usb headset, and when I want to switch between them currently I have to issue a pactl command to switch the default sink.
Anyone know if there is a config setting or USE flag to have it auto switch when I turn off my speakers or turn them back on?

I bought a new graphics card and am using it fine with the latest default "bin" kernel. However when I shutdown, Gentoo seems to shutdown like normal but the GPU (+mobo, etc) actually stays on. I have to force a power off by holding the power button down.

So I got it working. I enabled all the environment stuff and went over the wiki on Gentoo and the Hyprland site and installed whatever they recommended.

i assume your forgot the last part, regarding Display variable in your hyprland.conf.

why using flatpak ? <<< they are awful, IMHO.

I agree, but there is a single app I almost can't live without and they only have a flatpak for it. It's literally the only thing I have installed using flatpak.
However I will be setting up a Windows virtual machine and might just install it there.

Exposing my ignorance here but would I need xorg stuff actually installed? Perhaps this is the problem. I thought I read Xwayland is a server itself.

Most things are fine except for things that need X.
