I understand the OP's issue was resolved already but I wanted to add this post in case someone else encounters the isssue I've been researching the past few days.

After switching to Qt6 with OBS (media-video/obs-studio) I eventually noticed the program crashes with segmentation fault when the ...

I'm using AwesomeWM for around 6 months now, it's really awesome :)
I find it much better than i3wm.

Basically this.

Discovered tiling WMs a while ago, started looking into the different environments out there. Spent time reading the docs for i3 after hearing so much about it, but never even ...

Re: On the matter of dotfiles

Example, mistyping su, hitting enter, then typing the root password and hitting enter gets your root password stored in your ~/.zsh_history file. That sort of information should not be shared online.

Why would anyone include such a file in a repo? There is nothing requiring everything under ...

Some USE flags are dropped.
Haven't tried it yet since it's still marked unstable. Did upstream make worthwhile changes since last release?

I mentioned just the locale since that was something I had to correct on a machine recently, and it was the only part of the puzzle that was missing. I use urxvt with a powerline patched font and it does work, so I'll nominate some of my options that may help you reach a solution.

Build flags (I ...

What's your output for

Code: Select all

$ locale
as the lack of UTF-8 is going to be responsible for this.

i don't venture out of gentoo repos. why isn't palemoon in the gentoo repos? is it because of some security issue or license restriction?

I'm not sure why.

If you adjust lineSpace (-lsp) it will probably work, but you might not like the side-effect of changing this value. I use Symbola to handle Unicode chars not covered by typical fonts, but only certain emoji work. I think it's because of how some of them are defined.

I was once a big fan of Amarok long ago, with Amarok 1.x. Then there was quite a backlash with the new wave of changes for the 2.x line, mainly the hard dependency on mysql. It was preposterous that a simple media player requires a full-blown database engine as a hard dependency! I quit using Amarok ...

Why are you all showing insanely long compile times? Are you not using ccache? Note: this is my build time with ccache and ungoogled patches from pg_overlay. Added two other entries for comparison purposes. Everything built with GCC 5.4.

It's hard to determine the nature of your question. If you rebuild PHP or even edit php.ini, you need to restart Apache to ensure your changes take effect. Changing PHP source files is all you need to run new code immediately. I'm not familiar with any caching paradigm that could invalidate that ...

You need to apply patch (use /etc/portage/patches ) chromium-gcc5-r1.patch, you find this patch in official portage tree /usr/portage/www-client/chromium/files/chromium-gcc5-r1.patch .

This also worked for me, but I'm still failing to build at a later stage.

The old-fashioned procedural functions for database calls were deprecated and by the release of version 7, were stripped out entirely as a result. You need to migrate to using PDO class. Here's the funny part. It was working fine before I upgraded to kernel 3.11.4. I had to upgrade because in 3.10.7 the elantech ps/2 touchpad extensions didn't work right.

I'm not sure how going to 3.11 broke it. I recompiled all of gstreamer and firefox itself. Still no clue what's wrong.

Firefox does not play HTML5 audio [SOLVED]

Cannot find any info about this problem. All HTML5 videos will play but no audio comes out. Flash works fine though. It's FF 24.0-r1 with gstreamer flag on, and gstreamer 0.10.36 installed, with the following:

media-libs/gst-plugins-base
media-libs/gst-plugins-good
