problems with prefix bootstrap on OSX Leopard

Hi all - Having some trouble bootstrapping a gentoo prefix install on OSX 10.5.2 with Xcode 3. The trouble begins here:

./bootstrap-prefix.sh $EPREFIX/tmp grep

this results in a lot of errors, including
ld: symbol(s) not found

So, I continue in spite of the error since I found a gnu grep on ...

Well, by using
Option "CrtcNumber" "1"
in the device section I can get the external monitor to work but the laptop screen is displaying gibberish, which I interpret as being driven with the wrong sync rates. If I can get the internal display to turn off when an external one is present I'd be in ...

I've been looking all over trying to find out how to configure an external monitor on my powerbook. the display comes on for a short time during booting, and it stays powered on (powerbutton is green, not amber) while plugged into the laptop. lshw also reports its presence in the hardware list. So ...

I finally was able to compile a working kernel last night. I found a config file on the live CD that worked. There are some corrections that I think should be made to the installation handbook. I think it states that genkernel can be used on all platforms but I could not get it to compile a kernel ...

help configuring kernel - no keyboard!

I'm doing an installation of gentoo on my 12" al powerbook. I rebooted and was able to boot my kernel but my keyboard was not recognized! I'm using gentoo-dev-sources (2.6.10-gentoo-r6) I tried to follow the manual configuration in the handbook but some of the options in menuconfig are not the same ...

After realizing that my computer was not, in fact, posessed by evil spirits I decided to reinstall gentoo on my G3 mac. The second install went fine and I had a stably running system. I say 'had' because I promptly blew away the fully functioning install to see if I could figure out what broke ...

I boot using bootX and when I boot using the ramdisk image the system seems to work fine. My install went with no problems. I wonder if it has something to do with the disk or disk mounting. I'm using ext3 disk format. I previously had mandrake linux on the disk and I reformated the partition to ...

my beige g3 is posessed!

Greetings - I just finished installing gentoo on my beige g3 but the system seems to hang during the boot process or soon after. Sometimes the system will freeze up while loading syslog-ng, during boot. Sometimes syslog-ng will start ok and I can get to a login prompt and log in, but it will freeze ...
