The same here. I'm using kmymoney2. It's quite nice:-) have a look at it!

Hi sman,

have you solved your problems yet?
I'm struggeling as well with obex file transfer profile, but you might improve your situation by configuring the class number of your device with hciconfig or khciconfig.
Kbluetooth will accept their input more than of the /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf file.

bluetooth, kde and sdp

Hi,

I'm not sure, whether I'm right to post in "kernel & hardware", please move if it belongs somewhere else!

I'm using gentoo-kernel 2.6.14-r7 on a T40p and kde 3.4.
Bluetooth is mostly working fine: I can hotsync with my Treo 650, have obex push and serial chat.
BUT: I cant browse my Laptop ...

Treo 650 and kmobiletools? Or something similiar...

I'm quite happy with syncing my Treo 650 with kpilot (or kontact) and bluetooth.
But that's only the PDA part of the Treo. With my former Siemens S55 phone I loved writing SMS, dialing and answering calls with kmobiletools. I would like to do that with my Treo as well.
Unfortunately the phone app of ...

Have a look at http://www.tldp.org/! It's a great site with lots to read and advice. The The Linux Cookbook helped me a lot in the beginning and of course the fun stuff, like the hacker's guide.

updating binutils brings error:[SOLVED]

Hi,
I want to update my system, but when portage reaches the binutils:

[ebuild U ] sys-devel/binutils-2.15.92.0.2-r10 [2.15.92.0.2-r1]

I get this error message.
Seems to me quite strange.

&& rm -f $file && PATH=../src:$PATH /usr/bin/gmsgfmt -o $file /var/tmp/portage/binutils-2.15.92.0.2-r10 ...

I think, the Gentoo Localization Guide knows the answer:

In most Gentoo Linux installations, your hardware clock is set to UTC (or GMT, Greenwich Mean Time) and then your timezone is taken into account to determine the actual, local time. If, for some reason, you need your hardware clock not to be ...

My T40p has been working fine and stable for more than a year with Gentoo and kernel 2.4.XX plus APM.
Now (with a new harddrive) I got everything (haven't tested IR as I don't need it and didn't compile it into the kernel) working with kernel 2.6.11 and ACPI.
Thanks to this forum!!!

updating bios

It's quite an old thread, but I'm just tempted to proceed on this: once you have deleted the predesktop area (as I did) to have a "clean" gentoo notebook, how do you actually perform a bios update? The t40p doesn't have a floppy drive (and I havn't one around either). Now, a bootable windows cd with ...

Thanks, techosen0ne!
I always adjust my audio settings with aumix, so a 100% PCM is not the problem...

sound quality on T40p

Hi,

for mp3 playback I usually use the xmms (version1.2.7) on my T40p (kernel 2.4.23, ALSA with snd-intel8x0).
Though I'm getting so annoyed with the sound output, that I rather use a different device (PDA or mp3 player) for listening to music. (The sound is like from a real bad car audio speaker ...

Hi Diodorf,

welcome to the club :-)

I suppose, you did experiment a bit with iwconfic ath0 key?
Sorry I cannot help you here: I never used it.

Are you happy with your kernel?
Did you use the sys-kernel/development-sources? Why not the gentoo-dev-sources?

Another curiosity question: did you keep the ...
