I don't think it will show the images if they are attached in the mail, but most of the email I get have the images hosted remotely. I didn't know you could double click on them

Hmmm.. I just checked one of the mails I received and there was no attachment to click on, but it was a mail with ...

Viewing html mail you receive in sylpheed

Since sylpheed disables all html I was wondering how I could easily view any html messages if I really wanted to see the mail with all its pretty images (actually, someone else in my house was, so I did this). This is a very simple trick so you can view it with your web browser. In this situation I ...

You shouldn't have to do a full reinstall for this. What is in your /boot folder? /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot? Could you list the contents here? And yes, you can rename bzImage to whatever you want if you want, but I'd keep it to letters, numbers, and - with no spaces.

I'm unsure whether or not genkernel automatically puts the kernel in your /boot/ folder. It looks like your genkernel is making the usual bzImage name for the kernel. But it might have renamed it later to something like "kernel-2.4.20-gaming-r3" Check if it's there, "ls -l /boot/" Don't forget to ...

Did you choose lilo as the bootloader during the Gentoo setup? If you did, you should have ran /sbin/lilo and it should have overwrote the old boot record.

Compiling on one computer, installing/running on another

Would this be possible to do? I assume it would be as long as your CFLAGS aren't set to your processor. Can a P4 compile specifically for a AMD-K6 II? Or would it just need a generic x86 compilation?

I'd like to be able to do this because my computer is much faster than the one I need to install a ...

Assuming lilo is configured correctly, the only thing I can think of right now is that you forgot to edit your /etc/fstab to reflect the changes.

xf86config is a program that will ask you a few questions and generate a new XF86Config file based on your answers. You can then go in and manually edit a few things if you have to. You run it by typing "xf86config" in the console.

The only lines that you have to change to get your computer to boot are the /dev/BOOT, /dev/ROOT, and /dev/SWAP. They will end up looking something like this:
/dev/hda6 /boot ext3 noauto,noatime 1 1
/dev/hda3 / reiserfs noatime 0 0
/dev/hda4 none swap sw 0 0

*Note that I didn't post my full ...

I've never had this problem before, but I'd check to make sure you didn't forget to include "/proc file system support" in your kernel.

Re: Same problem, potential solution

I found the same exact problem. The NVidia driver isn't perfectly compatible with the 2.6 kernel. But I found this site: http://www.minion.de/nvidia.html . This guy made some changes which are supposed to fix it, but I couldn't get it to work either. The module gets loaded, but still does not work ...

You just have to mount it and you can read any files from it like any other drive. http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=29285 has a guide on how to do it.

Wait, so did you remove the # from the Load "glx" line or not? If you didn't, you should.
