Hi all, I've a problem on a Sparc Ultra30 with a chrooted bind-9.2.5-r4 installation.
When the server starts, it give me the error:
named[1343]: could not open entropy source /dev/random: permission denied

I tried to give to the user 'named' all privileges on the dev/ directory but nothing has ...

That messages are Lilo error codes. You can find a description of those errors
in many documents.

I think there is no problem in doing this (maybe you could not copy /proc and /sys stuff).

Unfortunately I've disctontinued the updates to the dstcleaner because I'm rewriting it in C to make a more general (maybe modular) portage tool, but the time I can spend to this is always very little.

Anyway, related to your problem, I think it could be caused either ...

First of all try to add to:
title Gentoo 2.6
kernel (hd0,4)/boot/kernel-2.6 root=/dev/hda5
this:
title Gentoo 2.6
root (hd0,4)
kernel (hd0,4)/boot/kernel-2.6 root=/dev/hda5


If the error persists, it could be:
1) an IDE + devfs problem
2) an ugly conversion from 2.4 ...

rouben: try to post here your boot loader config file. If you use "LiLo", have you tried to use Grub? If yes, did you find the same problems? (this is useful also for f41t3r)

Utilizzi il file package.keywords in /etc/portage (se non c'e' lo crei)

Uso il comando lpadmin o il comando foomatic-configure per configurare la stampante?
Io avevo usato foomatic-configure e in effetti la pagina di prova da localhost:631 me la stampava anche se da windows non mi stampava.

Basta configurare la stampante dall'interfaccia web di cups, semplice ...

allora ho provato a mettere il essid o qualcosa del genre con iwconfig PRIMA di dare il dhcpcd e adesso pare che il comando dia un risultato e la connessione funzion.. non so se stabile ma staremo a vedere...


Quando avvii ndiswrapper (e quindi la wlan) ESSID dovrebbe essere a "off/any" e ...

Be sure to statically include the root fs and your hd controller drivers in the kernel.

Mi vengono in mente 2 soluzioni:

1) il framebuffer non supporta a pieno la tua scheda video
2) il tuo file di configurazione del bootloader è errato (cosa più possibile, visto il dmesg)

Prova a incollarlo in un post.

You could try to post us your raidtab. It sounds like either a filesystem error or a raidtab config error.
Anyway you can also stop using /etc/raidtab configuration, replacing it with the mdadm suite, a modern replacement for raidtools

Dovresti trovare informazioni nel file:
/var/log/messages (anche /var/log/syslog, dipende da quale logger hai installato)
oppure dando anche il comando dopo aver caricato il modulo ndiswrapper. Anche: potrebbe esserti di aiuto

Per il resto non ti da' nessun messaggio di errore? (messages/syslog...)

Hai provato con risoluzioni minori (p.e. a 1024x768)?

The error could be in the line: If you use devfsd make sure you have the ebuild installed and that you have the support included in the kernel. If in doubt, use your Gentoo liveCD to control that.

It depends on the vesa driver which you use.
If you use the old Vesa you should go with the old "vga=7xx"; otherwise if you set up the new vesa-tng you can set your modes in the kernel configuration to: (for example) 1024x768@60 and set the grub command line to "video=vesafb"
