vmware startup is suffering from a similar problem after baselayout update. On boot it seems to fly past vmware start (maybe a parallel start?)

When in terminal I notice none of the vmware eth adapters are up. I try to manually start the vmware init.d script and it simply hangs. Is a reinstall of ...

I am also running XGL and have updated versions of cairo and glitz.. seamonkey wants to downgrade them. If I downgrade them it still doesn't emerge ...

there can't be an actual compile time circular dependency with two pieces of software, can there? it just doesn't make sense to me..

if that is the case they are really part of the same package and need to be compiled together as part of one make. On the other hand, if there was a distinction ...

RPM based systems have had to deal with circular dependencies as well..

I believe they solve it by allowing multiple packages within the same command to satisfy the circular dependency and allow the install. I suppose there is a difference between a compile time dependency and a usage dependency ...

Instead of following those instructions, I ensured both pam and ...

I have found it to be a great way to manage packages and stay on the 'bleeding edge' of packages that I personally -choose- I want to be on the edge for. I have learned a lot so far, about ...

hello,

I've unmerged the pam package cause it was blocking shadow from installing. And I can't unmerge shadow cause it will break my profile, or something...

I really love gentoo and portage so far, cause i've setup a rather fast gnome desktop, but it's that kind of things that annoy me...

One ...
