glibc won't emerge with nptl

Hi,

I have a system that was built with USE="nptl nptlonly" and profile 2006.1/desktop

I now want to use the newer profile 2007.0/desktop. When I emerge glibc, it won't use the nptl adn nptlonly flags:

Zeus ~ # USE="nptl nptlonly" emerge -pv glibc

These are the packages that would be merged, in ...

Apparently, xineplug_pvr.so is not found. How do I get that plugin, which use flags should I set?

xine does not play pvr:// anymore

Hi,

I just emerged world and updated a.o. xine. I used to watch TV using xine using my Hauppage PVR 250. But, xine now refuses to play the pvr:// transport. Here's some output:

Emerge:

Zeus ~ # emerge -pv xine-lib xine-ui

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Set different CFLAGS for a package

Hi,

I need to set different CFLAGS for some packages. Is it possible to do that analogue to the USE flag differentiation in /etc/portage/package.use?

I.e. does something like /etc/portage/package.cflags exist?

Thanks,

Re: Sun Ultra Sparc 30

I found the 2nd CPU on the U30 suspicous indeed The current owner just told me that Solaris runs on only 1 proc and that the 2nd proc is used for running a user (CAD) application. The amount of RAM is enormeous for this machine, but disks are on the small side. Although the 300MHz Ultra is 64bit ...

Sun Ultra Sparc 30

Hi,

I am about to buy a Sun Ultra Sparc 30. The machine has a main 300 MHz processor and an extra 300 MHz (co) processor, 2x4 GB SCSI disks and 1 GB RAM.

I am not sure whether to really buy it (approx. USD 150). Will Gentoo run on it and will I be able to run Xorg, KDE/Gnome, Firefox, OpenOffice ...

Set CFLAGS for a specific package

Hi,

Emerging gcc-3.4.5 fails with my current CFLAGS. I need to set -fpmath=sse instead of sse,387. How can I set the CFLAGS specifically for the gcc package when doing an emerge world, thus overriding the CFLAGS in make.conf? I am looking for something like /etc/portage/package.use.

Thanks ...

Oh,

And I had to set the following env during the emerge world at some point in the beginning:

export VERY_BRAVE_OR_VERY_DUMB=yes

Else the emerge wouldn't continue. It was warning that "make-symlinks" in USE flags was not a good idea, but I figured that that would have to do with the busybox ...

Embedded gentoo: emerge world fails

Hi,

I'm installing embedded gentoo (http://gentoo-wiki.com/TinyGentoo) on an i686. I followed the guide precisely and the process works ok, until the last step of emerge world. Gcc emerge fails on a patch. The output is attached below. What is wrong here? I tried masking the gcc versions >=3.3.6 ...
