surely a noob question but I don't find the answer: Net.eth0 and net.wlan0 start at boot, but they are not programmed to start: raoul ray # rc-update show lvm | boot xdm | default fsck | boot hald | default mtab | boot root | boot swap | boot udev | sysinit keymaps | boot ...
just updated to gnome 2.28 and a pb appears with compiz: when I run "compiz --replace --loose-binding ccp" the cpu usage stick around 30%-40% it appears that Xorg uses about 7%, compiz 7%, gconfd-2 6%, metacity 4%, gnome session 2%, dbus-deamon 2% I re-emerge mesa, nvidia drivers, compiz (all ...
Wow!!! Openoffice-bin-3.0.0 is already in portage (hard masked of course )!!!
congratulation to the devs for quickness of the release!
to bad for me that my university's proxy forbid me to sync portage... the day will appear very looooong until I can go back home
A week after gnome 2.24 goes out, it is running smoothly on my computer. Ubuntu users will still wait for one entire month until they can experiment it. I didn't notice it is planned soon for Suse (but I can be wrong). Not bad for a dead thing. ;) As already said, distrowatch isn't a good poll, and ...
I installed gnome 2.24 from the overlay this morning. everything works fine, even compiz-fuzion. compiz seems to run a bit smoother, and if overall performance is very good, it wasn't an issue for me before (my config: core duo 1,6Ghz, 3Go ram, HD 350Go SATA 5600t/min) it only seems to have an issue ...

btw thanks to the developers for their great job!

I don't know if a bug report is needed as moodle is not supported by ...
Bamboo tablet do not work with xorg-server 1.4.0.x, even with the latest drivers (0.7.9_p7). gnome starts well, but when I hit a button of the tablet X crash-> I came back to xorg-server 1.3.0.0-r5 where everything works perfectly.
just my 2 cents to try to show how the pb is complex. I am personaly using gnome without any pb. I remenber that when the version 2.18 was'nt in portage a week or two after it was disponible. of course a lot of people were waiting for this version and the debate were the same as here ("why ...
