Python virtual envoriment management

I seem to be on a roll lately, first zig, now python. I've been doing python development for work for several years now and I have been using pipenv to manage my virtual environments. However recently it along with some of its dependencies have been masked and set for removal very shortly. After ...

grknight,

I attempted another source install of zig, checked dmesg and saw this.

For now I have opted just to use the binary package on that system. I don't understand why 3 of 4 would compile he package fine yet this one won't. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

CaptainBlood,

Unfortunately your initial response did not help. I've been comparing the install between the failing laptop and a desktop that it worked on and don't see anything either. I installed the bin package as a temp measure to build the oxwm window manager then removed it after I got oxwm ...

Emerge of zig-0.15.1 failing

I am trying to install Zig 0.15.1 on one of my laptops. I have already installed in on 3 other gentoo systems without issue but this last one keeps failing on me. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Is Redhat saying much about AB 1043? I searched a bit and did not find anything.

Apparently its official that age verification components will be part of systemd...guess who is pushing systemd. Like I needed another reason not to use it! SystemD/Age Verification

Age verification is going to be ...

Marking this as SOLVED. I recently migrated another system from Xorg to XLibre using the same steps, then updated it with no issue, there were no attempts to reinstall Xorg.

I also submitted an issue with the gentoo-ports repo of XLibre discussing their maintaining of ebuild replacing xorg-{drivers ...

Hu and grknight,

Those reasonings do make sense, it was just a curiosity on my part. So my current solution is likely the best as long as xlibre continues to be maintained in its own repo. It may be a good idea to add a reference to this solution on the XLibre wiki page as I can't believe I would ...

GDH-gentoo,

Yes, the XLibre overlay should provide an ebuild for LightDM that depends on x11-base/xlibre-drivers instead. Or provide a dummy x11-base/xorg-drivers ebuild that pulls x11-base/xlibre-drivers, just like it does with x11-base/xorg-server.

Would it be possible for the lightdm ebuild ...

GDH-gentoo,

Thank you for your direct responses to my questions, they are helpful. I honestly hope that XLibre does make it into the main gentoo repo, especially if Xorg continues to be dormant as it has been. But that is just my personal opinion. However, as long as XLibre is available that's all ...

[SOLVED] Conversion to XLibre

I have been trying for months to migrate one of my systems as a test from Xorg to XLibre, but I kept running into an issue when I ran emerge @preserved-rebuild as it would keep trying to reinstall xorg-server. I tried blocking the package but emerge would just complain that it was blocked. So, I ...

Okay, I found my problem. Somehow when I created the original x11-misc folder, some extra (i.e. hidden) characters were part of the x11-misc folder name. I found then when I ran git status on the repo. So I copied the folder to a temp location, recreated the x11-misc/barrier folders then copied the ...

I ran pkgcheck scan and the only thing is said about that folder was UnknownCategoryDirs: unknown category dirs: ARCHIVED, x11-misc . Then I went to the ebuild repo link you sent and looked over my process to see if Im doing it correctly. I then ran pkgdev manifest but that didnt help either. I ...

Yes, I have heard of the drama that is SuperSlicer being incompatible with boost 1.84. As mentioned previously, I had 2.5.59.2-r2 installed somehow, but I accidentally removed it while trying to fix the recent recompile/reinstall. Sadly, I now have boost 1.85.0-r1 installed.

[SOLVED] Issues with SuperSlicer

Hello,

I have been having alot of issues with SuperSlicer having to be re-ebuilt, especially with 2.5.59.2-r2 so I thought I would try this thread . I followed snova's step in his last post, but I am having issues with completing the build. My issue seems to be with PrintBase.cpp. I had 2.5.59.2-r2 ...

Dual Monitors w/ XPlane 11

Greetings

I am working on a sim "cockpit" for XPlane 11, but I have been struggling with an issue. I have a NVidia GT 730 (I know, not a great card...but it works, kinda) with 470 drivers. I am not sure if this makes a difference, but I am using AwesomeWM as my desktop, which happily uses both ...

Okay, so I accidently rebooted the system and it started up as normal, seemingly without issue...I am not sure if the issue is solved with it or not. So if I rerun the grub install command on my systems, that should prevent this issue on my other systems?

All,

It seems as though I got hit with an issue on a couple of machines similar to what is mentioned in this other discussions 1168002 , 1167954 , and 8818652 . One machine is here at the house and the other is at the office. I have others but I haven't rebooted them specifically because of this ...

Okay, I am not quite sure why I didn't think of this before but it appears that my .vimrc is calling those two plugins and they are causing the errors within start-up of neovim. Disregard!

CORRECTION: The real reason was setting of the VIMRUNTIME environment variable.
